Public Response On Lincoln Furious With Meade Selects Grant

James Browne6 Months ago
A buddy of mine is an extra in this series, partly filmed in Savannah years ago. Honestly, it's so chocked full of stereotypes and lousy accents that I have a hard time watching it. Kind of like the "Dallas" version of the Civil War.

Grant was possibly the best looking president we've had, I think it's only fair to have a handsome Grant.

Meade had tiger by the tail abd shrugged
Bloodrayne Soldier6 Months ago
I love how this shows General Grant’s admiration and respect he had for General Lee.
Dr Martin6 Months ago
Meade stayed the commander until the war concluded. The union suffered 23000 casualties. Lincoln was being harsh here

I wonder if he remembers me from Mexico. He actually got that question answered when Lee surrendered.

This is melodramatic baloney. Lee was hoping and praying for Meade to attack him immediately in the days following Gettysburg. Lee was well prepared for such an attack. Meade knew well that the terrain of Lee's retreating army very much favored Lee and Meade knew that his Army was in no condition to deal a death blow to Lee's army. Grant took over from Halleck eight months after the Gettysburg campaign. Meade was retained by Grant and performed competently as the commander of the Army of the Potomac until the end of the war.
